The Blade has defined the 5-batten wave sail category for over 20 years. The 027 Blade builds on that foundation; sharper, lighter, and more dialled than ever.
Sailing the Blade feels smooth and effortless. The sail does the work; the rider stays focused on the wave. Forward driving profiles and reduced back-hand pressure keep the rig locked in; wind variations don’t register.
XR Xtended Range locks deeper, more powerful profiles in place with added skin tension; wind range extended at both ends.

The 027 Blade sets a new standard by integrating these design concepts with SEVERNE’s materials, including eM3, SpiderFibre, eM4 as well as D6 Dacron in the luff. CarbonFusion welded foot panels and carbon load transfer strips have come down from the Blade Pro to the standard Blade. And this is just the standard model.

TECHNOLOGY
SEVERNE continues to lead the way in windsurf sail construction. The Blade Pro and S-1 Pro are built entirely in welded CarbonFusion from the back of the sleeve to the leech. No stitching means no micro-holes; less stretch and movement under load.
That construction has trickled down into the standard Blade: stitchless welded foot panels and carbon load transfer strips in the head and tack. Add DirectConnect at every hardware attachment point and D6 Dacron in the luff, and you have the full rundown of the tech that makes up the 027 Blade.
For 027 the Blade Pro adds two new materials to that platform: a Project85 leech panel that cuts physical weight by 25% and swing weight with it, and a Taffeta X-Ply luff panel for smooth, balanced power delivery. Here’s the full rundown.
GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY
With the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY improvements are obvious. Lighter weight and better stability.
Using the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY. Corners have overlapped panels which reduces the amount of patching. At the same time these overlapped areas extend into the body of the sail so it transitions the load much better, will be less stretch over time. It’s a more stable way of building sails.
The GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. Overall weight is reduced but the more significant improvement is the feel – quicker reacting and lighter feel.
Rather than a single curved luff panel, we use separate panels – split luff – that radiate out of the head and tack corners. This perfectly aligns the sail material with the direction of load.
Previously the curved panel would have bias stretch in all the wrong places. Direct transmission of power. Increased longevity.
