PHILIP KÖSTER PRO WAVE
Designed in collaboration with 5 x World Champion Philip Köster, the PYRO will ignite your fire.
It’s fast, it’s powerful and versatile; sail it like Koster with twin fins for playful looseness. In a contest scenario the improved early planing and better upwind ability of the thruster fin setup is the go. And then when the waves turn on, plug in the quad fins for down-the-line grip and reliability.
The latest iteration of the PYRO utilises clever paint and construction techniques to make it one of the lightest, most high-performing boards available. Each component and detail has been engineered for performance. Everything is premium. Philip does not accept second best.
In Philip’s own words: “I‘m stoked that my Pyro handles all conditions well – from 50-knot Pozo trying to beat my highest jumps to challenging Ho’okipa to get some of the most amazing rides”.
The PYRO is now fueled by NYCA fins; an injection-based technology utilising a specialised blend of thermoplastic polymer and carbon fibres. This blend not only offers resistance to abrasion but also the ideal rigidity for windsurfing performance.
Aggressive aesthetics. PK performance. SV attention to detail.
UPGRADES
/ Higher accuracy shape for better performance and maximum consistency.
/ Improved edges on tuck line.
/ Carbon fibre infusion fins.
/ Camo pads with optimised shape
SIZES 56 / 62 / 68 / 74 / 79 / 83 / 87 / 93 / 99 / 105 / 113
PERFORMANCE GEOMETRY
A single concave morphs into Vee through the tail, creating fast, low-drag rocker lines through the center of the board. Early to plane, and super quick.
Put it on rail, and the 3D curves become quite different; the low rail through the single concave kicks up into the late Vee to create a surf-inspired rocker capable of big turns and mad hacks.
Ride it flat to go fast. Get it on the rail to go vert.
TECHNOLOGIE
PARALLEL OUTLINE
The parallel outline decreases drag and increases stability. Overall width is reduced which helps give the boards a smaller, more manoeuvrable feel.
Twin
The loosest option. As a twin fin, the Pyro is super fun and maneuverable. When it’s windy, and there’s some waves to play around in, then this setup is Philip’s everyday choice.
Thruster
With 3 fins, the Pyro gets up and going a bit earlier and better able to deal with strong currents and gusty conditions.
Quad
The most stable option. When it’s big, and some extra grip is required,
a 4-fin setup is dependable and solid.
The HEX4 system makes it quick and easy to change fin setups – experiment and find what works best for you
/ MORE MANOEUVRABLE. IT HAS MORE ROCKER AND FINER RAILS.
/ BETTER JUMPING. THE NANO-LIKE OUTLINE WITH ADDED SPEED ARE MADE FOR AIR.
/ MORE COMPACT: SHO
The unique shape and the four fins generate maximum drive and acceleration, bringing an awesome production of speed, flow and power to your sailing in all wave & wind combinations.
Stable and extremely responsive, the Quads are most rewarding when driven off the rails for powerful yet smooth turns. The four-fin grip gives a very connected sensation to the wave yet they still have the ability to lose the tail when extended through the lip for a rotational move.
For 2015, subtle changes producing significant differences in performances have been introduced on three models in the range.
The Quad 79 and 84 have their Vee brought forward of the fins. This produces more precise rail-to-rail control in the bottom turn allowing for quicker trajectory changes as well as facilitating cutbacks as the board rolls off the Vee to set the forward rail.
More outline curve was added between the footstraps of the Quad 74 for quicker and tighter turns but also allowing the board to project more vertically up the face of the wave. - See more at: http://www.star-board-windsurfing.com/2015/products/boards/quad#overview
