THE iSONIC IN DETAIL
What’s new:
The evolution continues at an even higher velocity; introducing the new iSONIC designs for 2025. Our race-ready iSONIC 60, 63, 67, 73, 77, and 85.
The latest iSONICs fly over the water with renowned control and confidence. Calm and composed in rougher conditions, they accelerate relentlessly and freely without sticking, with enhanced performance capability ensuring even more competitive advantage when it matters most. The 2025 iSONIC 60 features a new design with a 5cm longer flat in the center, improving stability in rough conditions, complemented by a 20cm shorter flat on the sides to reduce wet surface area. Revised two-step cut-aways, implemented in an extended triangle geometry provide unparalleled freedom and control. The iSONIC 85 now benefits from significantly larger second-step cut-aways and a refined forward Vee shape, delivering maximum acceleration and control, even at high speeds. The iSONIC 77, following the success of the iSONIC 85, mirrors its design and performance, achieving speeds over 40 knots in challenging conditions like Garda Lake’s North winds. For 2025, we also reintroduce the iconic Starboard Wood Sandwich construction across the iSONIC range.
ARROW CUTAWAYS
For 2025, the iSONIC 60, 77, and 85 models feature the innovative Arrow Cutaway design. The refined second step length enhances the board’s lift on the fin, while the extended triangle step provides superior control by minimizing tailwalks. This results in a more free-flowing and perfectly trimmed board that extends the fin’s controlled lift range. Experience higher average speeds that edge closer to your maximum potential, all with improved confidence and comfort. With these refinements, you can keep your focus on racing. And let your board handle the rest.
SPEED FOCUSSED STANCE
The 2025 iSONIC models feature an optimized speed-focused stance. The rear foot straps are positioned to minimize surface area drag, enhancing top-end speed. Additionally, the mast track is centered further back, allowing the board to ride more freely and effortlessly. These refinements ensure that every element is tuned for maximum velocity and performance, letting you push your limits with confidence.
DOUBLE-STEP CUTAWAYS
Latest iSONIC models feature refined Double Step Cutaways for enhanced release and increased speed. The second step is shorter, allowing the board to fly higher on the fin for improved performance and control.
MAST TRUCK FURTHER BACK
The back footstraps are complemented by moving the mast track further back, allowing the board to ride with even greater freedom.
EXTRA VOLUME MIDSECTION
Featuring a refined outline, the 2025 collection incorporates extra volume in the midsection, enhancing consistency and confidence in challenging conditions. This added volume ensures quicker planing and sustained momentum, enabling seamless performance, especially in critical situations.
JIM DRAKE SLICK FOOTSTRAPS
The Jim Drake Slick footstraps are made with FSC-certified, sustainably sourced and plant-based Yulex foam. With 85% natural rubber content, CO² emitted during the manufacturing process is reduced by 80%. The remaining 15% of synthetic neoprene is kept to improve UV resistance. Carefully sourced with the smoothest fabric for a comfortable feel.
CONSTRUCTIONS
CARBON REFLEX SANDWICH
THE FLAGSHIP CONSTRUCTION
The iSonic Carbon Reflex is our flagship range. The light weight allows you to get going easier, plane through wind holes and get the best top speed. Carbon Reflex is our stiffest construction, giving you the best control when hitting chop and waves. Decks are built with the lightest grade of biaxial and uni-directional carbon fibre orientated between 45, 30 and 0 degrees for optimized flex and reflex characteristics. The bottom of the boards use an even lighter grade of uni-directional carbon fibre from nose to tail, with an extra 45 degree biaxial carbon layer in the tail area for added torsional stiffness.
WOOD SANDWICH
ULTRALIGHT WEIGHT COMBINED WITH NEW MATERIALS
Developed by Jean Louis Colmas in 1984, Wood Technology became Starboard’s trademark construction in 1995. Wood Technology remains a favorite for riders preferring more comfort, more control and the unique crisp feel of an original Starboard. It’s time to bring back this technology while reducing our CO2 footprint. Full wood sandwich lamination of 0.6mm Australian Pinewood over modern, recyclable 3mm PET core foam ensures durability and comfort in a good strength-to-weight ratio. Today’s wood is more visible in modern graphics; UV protected by fresh blue paint and stickers that compliment the natural grain with a really nice effect. A classy re-edition of a classic Starboard Original.
The unique shape and the four fins generate maximum drive and acceleration, bringing an awesome production of speed, flow and power to your sailing in all wave & wind combinations.
Stable and extremely responsive, the Quads are most rewarding when driven off the rails for powerful yet smooth turns. The four-fin grip gives a very connected sensation to the wave yet they still have the ability to lose the tail when extended through the lip for a rotational move.
For 2015, subtle changes producing significant differences in performances have been introduced on three models in the range.
The Quad 79 and 84 have their Vee brought forward of the fins. This produces more precise rail-to-rail control in the bottom turn allowing for quicker trajectory changes as well as facilitating cutbacks as the board rolls off the Vee to set the forward rail.
More outline curve was added between the footstraps of the Quad 74 for quicker and tighter turns but also allowing the board to project more vertically up the face of the wave. - See more at: http://www.star-board-windsurfing.com/2015/products/boards/quad#overview
