X-15 FOILBOARD

Performance Wing Racing – Built For Speed

The X-15 is specifically designed to deliver exceptional speed and performance on the water. With advanced racing features and carefully crafted design, the X-15 is built to excel in high-speed racing.

The X-15 Wingboard takes inspiration from our renowned X-15 Windsurfing Foil Slalom Boards and incorporates elements from our best-selling Wingboards. This board is crafted to deliver exceptional early planning capabilities and high-speed performance with low lift foils.

THE X-15 CLASS. A ONE-DESIGN WING FOIL RACING DISCIPLINE – WHY?

There are many popular one-design classes in both sailing and windsurfing. But, until now, there have not been any one-design wingfoil classes. So here we are. Together, Starboard and FreeWing have stepped up to the plate to introduce one-design wingfoil racing.

Why one-design racing though? Well, it’s a whole lot more fun when everyone is in the same “race car”! One-design racing is popular, largely because homogenous equipment inherently introduces elements of fairness. That means no decisions, and no second guessing. And the gear stays the same for longer so you don’t have to update it every year – avoiding the much criticised “pay to win” or “pay to play” aspects of traditionally material-driven sports like sailing where costly more advanced equipment creates a huge advantage for those who wield it.

NEW AERODYNAMICS

  • Reduced drag by 60% compared to previous race boards, resulting in increased speed and improved stability during flight.
  • The deck’s rounded profile reduces lift and enhances control, allowing for precise maneuvering.
  • An extended tail provides additional balance before takeoff and minimizes drag while in the air.

NEW WIND RANGE

Specifically built to cater a large range of winds, the X-15 is the board of choice in any wind range. We have presented only one size as we believe this is the best size for racers intermediate to advanced, in almost every wind condition.

NEW HYDRODYNAMICS

The progressive tuck line and tail kick design, resembling the shape of a water droplet.

NEW TOUCHDOWNS

The X-15 is designed with a large nose Vee built into the nose rocker. This shape has been designed and tested for extreme winds, able to touch down at full speed with no effect.

NEW FOOTSTRAP POSITION

Inserts for foot strap placements are tuned for maximum control during high speed racing and feature a range of insert options for different wind speeds and foil configurations.

NEW TUTTLE BOX

For the best possible connection to the foil, the tuttle box brings your foil millimeters to your foot for the best control at high speeds.

NEW STANDING AREA

A slightly recessed standing area gives the rider the most precise positioning and connection to the foil. Built to be aerodynamically efficient while accommodating for the most natural feel at high speeds.

NEW BOARD SOCK

Reduces paper waste while protecting your board from dust, scratches, and UV damage. Made with stretchable polyester, it fits various board shapes. Ensure optimal board maintenance with the iconic blue Board Sock, featuring a secure drawstring closure.

CONSTRUCTIONS

BLUE CARBON SANDWICH

STRONGEST AND LIGHTEST

• The X-15 is designed with the highest performing construction, Blue Carbon Sandwich. Featuring a full PVC carbon sandwich layup for the lightest and strongest construction.

• The Performance Wing Racing boards combine cutting-edge design elements and high-performance features to offer an unparalleled racing experience. Whether you’re an experienced racer or a junior rider, this board is built to push the limits and deliver exceptional speed on the water.

LITE TECH

LIGHT, STRONG, AFFORDABLE

• Introduced as a more value-oriented board, this construction makes wing racing for the U19 age groups and below in the X-15 Class more accessible than ever.

• Extra rigidity with the introduction of unidirectional stringer bands and solid with added rail/ nose reinforcements.
• Australian pine on the standing area for extra impact resistance and rigidity in the most critical area.
• All inserts have added high-density foam reinforcements.

The unique shape and the four fins generate maximum drive and acceleration, bringing an awesome production of speed, flow and power to your sailing in all wave & wind combinations.
Stable and extremely responsive, the Quads are most rewarding when driven off the rails for powerful yet smooth turns. The four-fin grip gives a very connected sensation to the wave yet they still have the ability to lose the tail when extended through the lip for a rotational move.

For 2015, subtle changes producing significant differences in performances have been introduced on three models in the range.

The Quad 79 and 84 have their Vee brought forward of the fins. This produces more precise rail-to-rail control in the bottom turn allowing for quicker trajectory changes as well as facilitating cutbacks as the board rolls off the Vee to set the forward rail.

More outline curve was added between the footstraps of the Quad 74 for quicker and tighter turns but also allowing the board to project more vertically up the face of the wave.
